SUB-ZERO temperatures, a sun that never sets, and frozen bottles of sunscreen would be a nightmare for most folks - but most folks aren’t Baker Borne.
For 23 days in June, the 20-year-old Jackson native climbed Denali, or Mount McKinley, the highest point in North America.
Borne was the only original member of his group besides the guide to make the summit. Others had to stop due to frostbite and serious illness.
But in a way, the grueling trek was a “break,” Borne said.
