Two years and numerous discussions later, the city of Jackson is finally moving forward on the North State Street and West County Line Road reconstruction projects.

And the projects will be moving forward more than a year ahead of schedule.

Having taken ballet classes all her life, being in charge of the box office, accounts, and even filling in as “Mother Ginger” for three years during The Nutcracker performances, Lynda Wright could be called the backbone of Ballet Mississippi.







No decisions on what city will do about library issues

Jackson city leaders were still weighing options last week on how to address problems with the Eudora Welty and Charles Tisdale libraries.

Welty was expected to reopen this week after temporarily being closed by the state fire marshal.

The Tisdale branch was shuttered in the spring because of black mold and water damage.
