Jackson city officials are looking at crime reduction models in other cities in hopes that they can get violent crime under control.
Last year, Mayor Harvey Johnson told the Sun that he wanted to take a “more holistic approach” to address crime.
The effort, which included moving key personnel within the Jackson Police Department (JPD), has had mixed results.
Through December 30, 2012 property crime across the city was down 12.8 percent compared with 2011, according to police records.
