Finally: Hinds County board cancels wasteful contract
Kudos to the Hinds County Board of Supervisors for getting it right.
Last week, the board voted to end its longstanding contract with Airwave LLC, the firm that was hired in 2008 to maintain the county’s emergency radio system.
The board, under the leadership of President Darrel McQuirter, ended the deal, which has cost taxpayers some $4 million since it was entered into in 2008.
The contract was canceled on a 3-2 vote, with McQuirter, District Three Supervisor Peggy Calhoun and District Four Supervisor Tony Greer voting to end the deal.
