OF THE THREE fastest-growing counties in the state, Madison County paid the most for engineering work last year.
Madison, Rankin and DeSoto counties all border metropolitan cities – Madison and Rankin are next to Jackson, while DeSoto lies just south of Memphis – and all three contain an interstate. DeSoto actually has two.
Approximately 97,000 people live in Madison County, compared to 144,000 in Rankin and 164,000 in DeSoto.
