New Attitude: Zoning changing reflecting residents' new opinion of mixed-use districts
When it comes to zoning, it’s all about the people, so says Ester Ainsworth, the city of Jackson’s zoning administrator.
And when it comes to the areas transitioning from residential to commercial, it’s also about residents’ changing attitudes.
“Up until 2006 or 2007, we didn’t have mixed use districts in our (zoning) ordinance, but the dynamics of the community have changed,” she said. “People say they don’t mind having a nail salon by their house.”
