Police make first arrest under new law
A 16-YEAR-OLD girl who ran away from home became a victim of sex trafficking when a “friend” got her in touch with a local pimp, according to Ridgeland PD.
Police arrested 29-year-old Martavious Cortez Warner of Jackson for human trafficking and other charges Saturday, April 12, said Lt. John Neal, head of criminal investigations.
The victim is now at home in Jackson with her family, and police have filed a report with the Hinds County Department of Human Services (DHS). Warner is being held at the Madison County Detention Center with no bond.
