Ridgeland’s war on illegal drugs embarrasses us
Sixty years ago I learned the two things you say to a police officer: “Yes” and “Yes, sir.” I still live by that rule and am a confirmed supporter of law and order.
A recent incident, however, may indicate that my positive attitude toward law enforcement needs recalibrating.
I want to tell you a story of one young man’s encounter with two Ridgeland police officers. We’ll leave names out and cloud other details, but the gist of the story you’re about to read is accurate. And depressing.
