Robberies increase ninety percent in Ridgeland in 2013
ONE RIDGELAND Police Department official says police need to be more visible in the city in order to curb robberies, which increased by 90 percent last year.
“I’ve always been a strong proponent of turning the blue lights on and stopping people on our main thoroughfares. When a criminal sees people being pulled over and sees police action, that deters [him or her],” said Brian Myers, commander of Ridgeland’s patrol division.
Nineteen robberies were reported in Ridgeland in 2013, compared with 10 the year before.
