STUDENTS AT Madison Avenue Lower and Upper Elementary will have more safe options for riding their bikes to school before long.
The Madison Board of Aldermen voted last week to advertise for bids for a project that will connect the schools to nearby neighborhoods with sidewalks.
A $564,000 grant from the federal Safe Routes to School program will fund the work. The city has previously installed some sidewalks in the area with Safe Routes to School money.
