The Metro Jackson Lions Club recently honored several medical leaders for their support of the Low Vision Clinic at the Mississippi School for the Blind. Lions funded the creation of the clinic, which provides vision screenings to children from across the state. The clinic is still in use today. The program included remarks from Gayera Trabont, who shared the history of the clinic, followed by an awards ceremony honoring the doctors and educators who supported the clinic. Shown (from left) are Dr. Richard Blount, Lion Margie Owens, Lion Gayera Trabont, Dr. Joe Joseph and Dr. Glen Stribling. The Metro Jackson Lions Club meet at noon on Monday at Scrooge’s.
