Virgi Lindsay announces plans to seek seat on city council representing Ward 7

Longtime Northsider Virgi Lindsay is a candidate for Jackson City Council Ward 7. Lindsay understands that quality neighborhoods are the heart of any great city and can use her experience and talents on the Jackson City Council to further strengthen Northside neighborhoods.

She spent more than 15 years directing the Greater Belhaven Foundation and national experts now recognize Greater Belhaven as one of America’s Top Ten Neighborhoods. Greater Belhaven is among the most vibrant areas of the city because neighborhood residents and businesses trusted Virgi’s vision and leadership.

Lindsay knows how the city operates. Her time as a reporter for The Clarion Ledger and as public relations director at Jackson Public Schools gave her a unique understanding of the challenges that face our city.

She spent two years convincing the city that Fortification Street needed a makeover, and then worked for another 12 years making sure, at every step of the way, the construction on Fortification Street was something her neighbors could be proud of.

Experts in Mississippi neighborhood and downtown revitalization saw how she worked with city hall to accomplish things for her neighborhood and named her State Director of the Year in 2015.

Lindsay has lived in Ward 7 for 32 years. She and her husband Chuck have two grown children, Chaz and Mary-Michael, who both chose to return to Jackson after college to build their careers here. The family has attended St. Richard Catholic Church for three decades. She currently serves on the board of directors for the Jackson Zoo and New Stage Theatre.
