Dolores “Dee” Perry died peacefully March 24 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, at the age of 97.
She is survived by her son Robert E. Perry Jr. of Madison; grandchildren Sarah Denley Herrington and Ann Whitten Reynaud; and great-grandchildren Ann Peyton Herrington, Graves Jackson Herrington, and Sarah Lamar Herrington.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George T. Hemphill of Oxford, brothers George T. Hemphill Jr. and Robert “Sonny” Hemphill of Oxford, and sister Mary Elizabeth W. Knolton of Memphis.
She was born on December 22, 1919 in Oxford. She was a graduate of University High School in Oxford and attended the University of Mississippi where she was a member of Phi Mu sorority. At Ole Miss she was selected Miss Oxford and met her husband Robert E. “Bob” Perry.
During World War II while Bob was at sea in the Navy she lived and worked in the San Francisco area. After the war she and Bob moved to Jackson where he began a law practice. She became the consummate homemaker and loved to cook, and many of her recipes became popular among friends and family.
