In the aftermath of its request for additional tax dollars from the city, Jackson Public Schools (JPS) has come under fire for what critics say are exceedingly high administrative costs.
However, the Mississippi Superintendent’s Annual Report shows that the district has lower administrative costs than the majority of districts in the state, as well as a lower percentage of its budget going toward salaries and fringe benefits than some schools in the tri-county area.
