Andrew Cooper Clayton

Services will be held November 6 at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Hattiesburg for Andrew Cooper Clayton.

Drew, to his family and close friends, 40, died October 31 in Hattiesburg. Drew was the much loved husband, father, son, brother, grandson, son-in-law and friend to all who knew him.

Betty Jane Tankersley

Betty Jane Tankersley, 94, passed away October 14.

She was preceeded in death in 2016 by her husband of 63 years, Lloyd Grant Tankersley. She is survived by her loving family, daughter Gail Tankersley Lamb (Scott) and two beloved grandsons, Grayson Harris Lamb and Grant Huston Lamb.

Burial will take place in Blanchard, Okla.

James Don Gordon

A celebration of life was held October 6 at Christ United Methodist Church for James Don “Jim” Gordon, M.D. The Rev. Calvin Cosnahan, pastor, officiated.

Dr. Gordon, 81, passed away October 3.

H.L. Merideth Jr.

Funeral services for H.L. “Sonny” Merideth Jr., 86, of Gulf Breeze, Fla., and formerly of Greenville and Jackson, were held September 9 at Avon United Methodist Church in Washington County. Sonny died suddenly at home September 5, in Gulf Breeze, Fla. 

Emil Leo Nick Jr.

Memorial services were held September 2 at Boone Funeral Home for Emil Leo Nick Jr. Emil passed away August 29. He was the son of the late Emil Leo Nick Sr. and Adeline Fury Nick of Greenville.

Dorothy Ann Stricklin Lee

Dorothy Ann Stricklin Lee passed away August 29. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. September 1, with funeral services immediately following at Galloway United Methodist Church. Dot was born on January 14, 1932. She was a native of Meehan Junction, daughter of Roscoe and Annie Stricklin, and raised in Newton and Laurel.

Luther G. Beaver Jr.

Services were held August 26 at Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church for Luther Galloway Beaver Jr. Luther, 82, died August 22 at St. Dominic's with family by his side.

He was born in Jackson, the son of the late Ruth Watkins Beaver and Luther Galloway Beaver Sr. on September 26, 1934.

John Roy Wilkes III

Services were held August 21 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cathedral for John Roy Wilkes III.

Roy Wilkes always said “life is for the living” and he lived his to the fullest. Roy died August 17 at the age of 81.

Bernard Andrew Holman

A Mass of Christian Burial was held August 19 at St. Richard Catholic Church for Bernard “Bernie” Andrew Holman. Father John Bond officiated.

Bernie Holman passed away peacefully August 14, at St. Dominic’s Hospital after an extended illness.
