Having taken ballet classes all her life, being in charge of the box office, accounts, and even filling in as “Mother Ginger” for three years during The Nutcracker performances, Lynda Wright could be called the backbone of Ballet Mississippi.

A Jackson native, Tippy Garner has always lived in the north and northeast area of the city.

She attended Callaway High School, and she studied business at Hinds Community College and Belhaven University.

Punitive damages sought against Tulane University over Madison closure

After Tulane University’s abrupt closure in January of this year in Madison, the city is demanding $10 million in punitive damages.

The funds, according to Madison Mayor Mary Hawkins Butler, will cover hard construction costs, used city resources, and damages to Madison’s reputation and economic development credibility.
