Work on Interstate 55 at Highway 22 in Madison County has been ongoing.

Recently, lane closures were announced. Drivers in the area should be aware of these closures to ensure their safety.

According to Mississippi Department of Transporation (MDOT) officials, commuters traveling this road should remain alert as construction crews continue working on the I-55 project at Highway 22 in Madison County.

Crews were working on the southbound lane of I-55 at Highway 22 on Saturday, June 16, beginning at 6 a.m.

The inside southbound lane between the Highway 22 exit ramp and entrance ramp to I-55 south was announced to be opened to traffic.

However, the outside lane will be closed until July 27.

This will allow crews to continue to make improvements on this project.

MDOT District Engineer Ricky May said, “MDOT urges commuters to slow down and remain observant as you travel through the work zone area.

Staying alert and obeying the speed limit will allow for a smooth transition.”
