Dr. and Mrs. S.R. Evans Jr. of Greenwood announce the engagement of their daughter, Caroline McMullan Evans, to Florent de Gantes, both of Cambridge, Mass. de Gantes is the son of Jocelyne de Gantes of Grenoble, France, and Antoine de Gantes of La Seyne sur Mer, France.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Lampton Wilkinson of Jackson, and the late Mr. and Mrs. S.R. Evans of Greenwood. The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Larue de Charlus of Paris, France, and of the late Mr. and Mrs. Francois de Gantes of Toulon, France.

Miss Evans was graduated from St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in 1999 where she received the Headmaster’s Medal, was a member of the Cum Laude Society, and was named the Mississippi State AP Scholar of the year. She received bachelor’s degrees summa cum laude in French, political science, and European studies from Vanderbilt University in 2003 where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She is a member of Chi Omega fraternity. Miss Evans was presented by the Debutante Club of Mississippi. She is seeking a master’s at Harvard Business School in Cambridge.

de Gantes is a 1999 graduate of Lycee Pierre Tournier, Grenoble, France, with high honors. He received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Ecole Superieure d’Electricite in Paris in 2004. He received a master’s with distinction in telecommunications from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 2005. He is pursuing a master’s of business administration at the MIT-Sloan School of Management in Cambridge.

The couple will exchange vows December 29 at 6 p.m. at the Chapel of Christ Church Cathedral in New Orleans. The Rev. Arnold A. Bush, cousin of the bride, and Father Pierre Delort-Laval, cousin of the bridegroom, will officiate.
