New administration brings hope for one-percent tax work
Madison County’s new recycling system is still working well for a portion of its citizens living outside city limits.
In July of last year, supervisors voted to take away two of the three recycling dumpsters located at the Southwest fire district station, the Yandell Road fire station and the Stribling Road fire station.
More volunteers are needed for the Mississippi Blues Marathon.
The annual race is days away, and race officials still need volunteers to guide runners and provide support.

Construction could begin in the next month on the first phase of a project designed to transform Parham Bridges Park in to a top tennis center.

Barnes Street, 300 block, stolen license plate, January 8;
Brecon Drive, 1700 block, auto burglary, January 4;
Briarwood Drive, 600 block, auto burglary, December 26;
Jackson city officials aren’t saying whether contractors will be penalized for finishing months behind schedule on a major street repaving project.
In 2016, the city brought on Superior Asphalt, of Byram, to repave seven major thoroughfares, including Ridgewood Road and Briarwood Drive in Northeast Jackson.
