Sen. Michel’s 2018 agenda focusing on bills to improve cities and counties

District 25 Sen. Walter Michel’s top priorities for the current legislative session are community improvement districts, obtaining funds owed through fines, bond money, the Reunion Interchange and the education funding formula.

The Madison Police Department received the following reports for:

Bassett Lane - lost property, December 27;

Grandview Boulevard - lost property, December 28;

Indian Pines Lane - petit larceny, December 4;

Kingsbridge Road - lost tag, December 4;

Gardner on Two Mississippi Museums

Cindy Gardner has been busy recently with the opening of the Two Mississippi Museums. Gardner, the museums’ administrator, is a graduate of Stetson University in Florida and has been with the Mississippi Department of Archives and History for nearly 19 years. She and her husband John have one daughter, Hilary.

R’land schedules public hearing January 16 on conditional uses


Ridgeland has multiple site plans that have recently been approved by the mayor and board of aldermen.

Among the five site plans and architectural reviews, two are hotels that will be located in the Township.

This past summer, Ridgeland officials approved a height variance for both hotels in the Township Overlay District.

Lake Harbour Update

Ridgeland officials are still on track for the Lake Harbour Drive two-part extension project. The city should send out bids for construction of the extension this spring.



First Presbyterian Day School fifth-graders celebrated National Kite Flying Day by constructing kites out of household materials.
