JA student killed in car crash, one day before she was to graduate

A vigil will be held tonight for the Jackson Academy (JA) student killed in a car crash today.

Frances Anne Fortner was driving along Ridgewood Road around 1:30 p.m., when she hit a manhole cover and her car flipped, according to Precinct Four Cmdr. Keith Freeman.

The vigil will be at 7 p.m., on the school's campus.










Crisler Boone on Baptist Foundation

Crisler Boone is the new executive director of the Baptist Health Foundation, responsible for helping raise money that makes any healthcare at Baptist more affordable and more comfortable. Boone was born and raised in Jackson and graduated from Jackson Prep and Millsaps. She and her two sons were born at Baptist as well.

Leslie B. Lampton was founder of Ergon, which has 2,600 employees in Mississippi, 29 other states, and several other countries. Dorothy Lee Crum Lampton was his wife for 69 years.
