Buchanan, Burkhalter exchange vows

Brittany Louise Buchanan and Byron Green Burkhalter were united in marriage in a candlelight service of worship  June 3 at Fondren Church.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brooks Ryan Buchanan of Jackson. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. James Ronald Buchanan and the late Mr. Buchanan and Mrs. William Henry Holman Jr. and the late Mr. Holman of Jackson.

Burkhalter is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Myles Burkhalter. He is the grandson of Mrs. George Poindexter Hewes III of Jackson, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Glenn Burkhalter of Tylertown and the late Byron Patton Green of Hattiesburg.

The ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Robert Michael Green and the Rev. Jason Lee Sterling. Scripture reader was Margaret Anne Fuller. Program attendants were Dylan McKinley Burkhalter, Honey Alexandra Holman, Margaret Elise Maloney, and Sondra Skylar Taylor.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a custom designer gown made of corded lace with a dotted Swiss layer and tulle. She wore a custom-made bolero of the same corded lace and dotted Swiss fabric as the gown. Her chapel-length veil had a waterfall-hem edge with scattered crystals throughout.

The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of Geraldine roses. Her stems were wrapped in ivory organza with a bit of her mother’s wedding gown woven throughout the stems.

 

Maid of honor was Frances Norfleet Phillips. Bridesmaid were Elizabeth Wade Antoon, Laura Lee Smith Beneke, Suzette Randolph Coors, Lilla Grace Flora, Katherine Burkhalter Lowrey, sister of the bridegroom, Virginia Wright Mayo, Emily Morgan McEwan, Murray Catherine Miller, Sarah Bracy Penn, McClary Elizabeth Snow, Mary Lant Cotton Watson, Caroline Jett Weatherly, and Hattie Grace Wheeler.

Flower girls were Vivian Louise Holman, cousin of the bride; and Rosemary Katherine Lowrey, niece of the bridegroom. They wore halos of pink spray roses with accents of ivory satin ribbons and carried pomanders of pink spray roses.

Honorary bridesmaids were Chandler Elizabeth Lee and Anne Willette McGraw. The bride’s proxy was Taylor McNeese Hilbun.

The bridegroom’s father was best man. Groomsmen were Brooks Ryan Buchanan Jr. and James Holman Buchanan, brothers of the bride; Buckner Anderson Corso; Reed Adams Ellis; Joshua David Gregory; Benjamin Allen Hewitt; Pierce Lang Lowrey IV; Jacob Martin McGregor; Benjamin Kyle Mcleod; Garner Arden Reesby; Andrew Walters Ritter; Forrest David Roberts III; Clinton Stennis VanDevender; and Charles Scott Woods III. Ushers were William Shepherd Carpenter, Paul Bennett Milner Jr., James Sanford Love Moore, and Robert Hayden Worsham III.

 

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at the Country Club of Jackson. Guests danced to the music of Simply Irrestible.

On the eve of the wedding, the bridegroom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at River Hills Club. The day before the wedding, a bridesmaid luncheon was held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Phillips. On the day of the wedding, a brunch was held in the home of Hank Holman, uncle of the bride. Bridesmaids enjoyed a salon party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Maloney, the bride’s aunt and uncle.

Following a wedding trip to South Africa, the couple is at home in Atlanta.
