Miss Ragland and Juel planning June 16 wedding in Holly Springs

MR. AND MRS. GARY Lee Ragland of Madison announce the engagement of their daughter, Emily Walker Ragland, to Stephen Joseph Juel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Lawrence Hindman of Collierville, Tenn.

 The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Leenard Ragland of Oxford, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert George Walker of Vicksburg. The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Kells Walker of Memphis.

Miss Ragland is a 2005 honors graduate of Jackson Academy, and a 2009 cum laude graduate of the University of Mississippi, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in English and political science. At Ole Miss she was selected for Trent Lott Leadership Institute, served as an active member of Chi Omega sorority and elected as campus favorite. She is a kindergarten teacher at KIPP Memphis Collegiate Elementary and was honored with a 2017 national Harriet Ball Excellence in Teaching Award.

Dr. Juel is a 2006 graduate of Christian Brothers High School and in 2010 earned a bachelor’s degree from Rhodes College in biochemistry and molecular biology with a minor in international studies. At Rhodes, he was selected a Bonner Scholar and competed on the school’s tennis team.

He attended the University of Tennessee Health Science Center where he received a doctor of medicine in 2017. After completing his preliminary year of residency at UTHSC, Juel will begin his radiology residency at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis in July.

 

The couple will exchange vows the evening of June 16 at the First Presbyterian Church in Holly Springs, with a reception following at Montrose.
