Dear Editor:

I am writing in response to an opinion piece written by Keith Dunn in the December 21 issue of the Northside Sun entitled “Separate but not equal still exists.” In the article, he compares education and facilities at Madison County Public Schools with those at Jackson Public Schools.

Good job on deregulation

The Mississippi Legislature’s reform of restrictive occupational licensing hurdles deserves praise. It is a model for reform nationwide. The new law creates the Occupational Licensing Review Commission composed of the Governor, the Secretary of State and the Attorney General.

I wonder as I wander


‘Twas the week before Christmas and I went to my church,

But I felt lonely, so turned away with a lurch.

And that’s when I felt a soft tug on my sleeve.

You’ll miss next Sunday, and that’ll be Christmas Eve.

A Christmas service, I didn’t think I could face;

Too soon I’d drive alone on up the Natchez Trace.
