Miss Wilson and Powell to exchange wedding vows October 14 in Flora

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Douglas Wilson of Ridgeland announcement the engagement of their daughter, Kristen Majure Wilson, to Lt. Nicholas Atwater Powell, son of Lauren Elizabeth Powell of Ridgeland and the Rev. Christopher Atwater Powell of Winnekta, Ill.

Miss Wilson is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Dwight Hollis of Ridgeland, Mr. and Mrs. Billy James McCool of Jackson, and the late Howard Alexander Wilson of Jackson. Powell is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. James Keith Stuart of Biloxi, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Powell of Albany, N.Y.

The bride-elect is a 2010 graduate of St. Andrew’s Episcopal School and attended the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College at the University of Mississippi. She was graduated summa cum laude in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in biology. At Ole Miss, Miss Wilson was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She attends the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and will graduate in May 2018 with a doctorate of medicine.

The prospective bridegroom was graduated from St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in 2008 and attended the Coast Guard Academy. He was graduated in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He is a lieutenant in the United States Coast Guard, having served in Kodiak, Alaska and Miami. He is stationed in Panama City.


The couple will be married October 14 at a private home in Flora.
