Walton and Ellis wed at Galloway Church

Marita Cannady Walton and Reed Adams Ellis exchanged vows at Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church April 1. The Rev. Dr. Joey Shelton officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otis Bennett Walton III of Jackson and the granddaughter of O.B. Walton Jr. of Jackson and the late Frances P. Walton, and Dr. and Mrs. Brantley B. Pace of Monticello.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Leon Ellis of Jackson. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Leon Ellis of Louisville and Judith Rossi Orr of Santa Rosa, and the late Thomas Orr. Great-grandmother of the bridegroom is Mrs. Edwin E. Felton of Santa Rosa.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a gown of ivory satin featuring crystal beaded embroidery over the sheer-illusion neckline, bodice and back with covered buttons from the neck to the hem of the chapel train. Her veil, worn by her sister and sister-in-law, fell beneath pearl and crystal pins hand-fashioned for them. She carried a bouquet of peonies, garden roses, ranunculus, blooming pieris, sweet peas, white phalaenopsis orchids, and Italian ruscus. Her two keepsakes, a hankie delicately hand-embroidered with RAE given to the bridegroom at his birth for his bride-to-be and a Brussels lace handkerchief carried by the bride’s mother at her wedding 35 years ago, were held with her flowers. Her maternal great-grandmother crocheted her garter and gave it to the bride as a child, and a second family garter was made by her great-aunt.

Matron of honor was the bride’s sister, Rhymes Stabler, who wore a gold sequin sheath gown. Bridesmaids were Rachel Borne, Walton Fenelon, Toy Gathings, Mary Blair Johnson, Sara Hazard, Heather Hines, Katie Lewis, Yancy Love, Gresham Meek, Mary Margaret Myers, Anna Kathryn Phillips, Maggie Tidwell, Tara Hallie Ware, Anna Wells, and Rachel Wirtz. They wore their choice of gowns in shades of champagne or soft gold.

Nephews of the bride, Pace Stabler and Otis Walton V were bell bearers announcing the entrance of the wedding party. They wore hand-sewn white and ecru short pants sets. The couple’s nieces were flower girls. Chandler Ellis and Ramsay Stabler wore white batiste and lace heirloom dresses, and Caroline Walton wore an ivory gown with sweeping skirt and satin sash in champagne at the waist.

The bridegroom’s father, Tim Ellis, and his brothers, Austin and Peyton Ellis, were best men. Groomsmen were Matthew Alias, Lane Bobo, Walker Brown, Byron Burkhalter, Zach Charlton, Dave Crasto, Gray Emery, Patterson Fenelon, Will Freeman, Bob House, Scott McVey, John Nix, Drake Roberts, Bryant Salmon, Nick Schneeberger, Martin Shepherd, Zach Warden, Gray Watt, Clinton VanDevender and John Yerger.

Following the service the bride’s family hosted a reception outdoors at Livingston. The couple drove away in the bride’s grandfather’s vintage convertible.

They are at home in New Orleans after a wedding trip to Australia and New Zealand.
